So, it’s been a little while, hey?
To be honest, I’m suffering from a lack of blogging inspiration. Sure, life has been busy and there have been fun things going, but I haven’t felt like anything warranted a blog post. I thought I’d find some time to get focused over the Christmas holidays when I had two weeks off work. Instead that turned into one week of Christmas craziness (baking, cleaning, entertaining, visiting, go, go, go), followed by another week of being flattened by the stomach flu. New Year’s Eve was celebrated by a day on the couch followed by bed at 10:30. Before I knew it, I was back at work.
While watching the hockey game this morning (Did you catch it? Last night I finished a marathon of the first three seasons of Breaking Bad. I’m not sure which had me more tense!), I spent some time catching up on reading some of my favourite blogs. I hoped to be inspired by others’ writing. There was a lot of recapping 2011 and documenting goals.
I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions, but I did start back at work on Tuesday thinking, “I want to be really good at my job.” When I started my new position last January, people kept telling me that I just needed one full year before I’d feel comfortable and somewhat under control. Well, that time is up now, so the pressure is on.
I made it to the office a few minutes early every day this week. I made an extra effort to stay focused on my tasks and not get distracted. I tried to plan ahead and anticipate, while attempting to find a balance between setting limits and accommodating others. By Friday evening, I was exhausted but left work feeling somewhat more satisfied than usual. I hope this trend will continue well into 2012. I’ll chalk that up to being off to a good start.
Perhaps I should celebrate by breaking out the champagne that never got opened on New Year’s Eve?
